Architectural Culture

Place, Representation, Body

Published 2005

Resling, Tel Aviv [Hebrew]

Editors: Tali Hatuka, Rachel Kallus

The edited volume Architectural Culture, comprised of papers written by scholars, researchers, and architects, focuses on the interrelationships between power structures and architecture. It sees the architectural product and discourse as part of this power structure, investigating the way it contributes to the construction and design of our daily environment. As such, the book opens up discussion on the meaning of architecture and culture within the Israeli context. The book focuses on three key themes: place, representation, and body. These themes, which are related and cannot be separated, are used as a framework for addressing the contemporary architectural thinking in Israel.
