The project “Neighborhood-State" offers a lexicon of Israeli neighborhoods, both old and new, serving as a foundation for future comparative research and practice. It contributes to housing discourse on three levels: (1) analyzing and exposing residential neighborhoods that are often overlooked in academic or political discussions; (2) creating a methodology for a comparative, multidisciplinary study of urban fabrics; and (3) conducting a comparative analysis of modern residential developments. Each case study includes surveys of both public and private spaces, along with interviews with residents and policymakers. The project, which led to a published book in 2012, also provides guidelines for future planning, considering the complex context of Israeli society.
